Mrs. Smith's Bio

Mrs. Smith is starting her twenty-second year in education and has spent the majority of these years in administration.  Mrs. Smith graduated Maxima Cum Laude from Loras College with a Bachelor of Arts and double major in elementary education and special education.  She started teaching in the special education classroom and has experience at both the elementary and junior high levels in a variety of subject areas.

Mrs. Smith received a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Northern Illinois University and completed additional coursework to obtain her Director of Special Education Endorsement. In addition, Mrs. Smith attended Western Illinois University where she obtained her certification for School Superintendent.

Over fourteen years, Mrs. Smith served as a building principal, Assistant Director of Special Education in Whiteside and Carroll Counties, and then as Director of Special Education at the Boone County Special Education Cooperative. Mrs. Smith has also served as an assistant superintendent in a large unit district for seven years prior to coming as Superintendent to Forrestville Valley.

While Mrs. Smith has a wide variety of experiences in large unit districts, Forrestville Valley has been her home for nineteen years.  Mrs. Smith is a resident of the district and has been part of the school community since her daughter started kindergarten at German Valley Grade School eleven years ago.    She has been amazingly blessed to celebrate 21 years of marriage with her husband Brent and together they have two children Brycelynn (16) and Brock (13).
