From the Superintendent's Desk
Over the past months, the Board of Education and I have been discussing the direction of the District and how we can best move forward. Much work will be done this school year with the ultimate goal of a three year Strategic Plan.
Phase 1
This Illinois Association of School Boards facilitated a meeting in August on goal setting and kicked off the process. The Board then held a Retreat to continue discussions and narrowed down the focus. At the September 17, 2014 meeting, the Board of Education formally approved Belief Statements, Vision Statement, and District Goals.
Phase 2
To begin the next phase of the process, over the next several months I will be meeting and communicating with the Administrative Team, Staff, and Community to gather input and share ideas for development of a Strategic Plan. Our end goal will include answers to the following questions What will be done? When will it occur? What measurement will be used? Who will be responsible for implementation and monitoring results? Progress will be shared along the way throughout the school year.
Phase 3
A Strategic Plan will be developed and formally approved by the Board of Education, setting the direction of the District for the next three years.
Thank you for your continued support as discussions continue and ideas are shared in the development of the Strategic Plan. I look forward to carrying out our Vision: "The Forrestville Valley School District #221 will provide a culture of continuous growth to include effective programs of instruction, safe and well-maintained facilities, and relevant community connections to prepare all students for college / career readiness in their desired field of study through fiscally-responsible decision making."
