Classroom Spotlight for Week of September 19th - Mrs. Carlson, 3rd Grade Math

September 20, 2016

Greetings from Third Grade Math!  We started the year out with multiplication and division concepts.  We are learning that multiplication is really just putting together equal groups.  Division is splitting into equal groups.  We are learning new words like factor, product, array, partition, quotient, expression, operation, and equation.  We are also just starting to learn about the commutative and distributive properties of multiplication.  We are using lots of math manipulatives, marker boards, and pictures to help us understand concepts.  Memorization of basic facts is coming soon!

The Third Graders are adjusting quickly to switching classrooms for different subjects.  I am so happy to get to know ALL of the students. We have had lots of fun so far, and I am looking forward a wonderful year!
