Mrs. Frederick - Classroom Spotlight

We are “7th Grade Mathematicians,” is something I have termed to signal when we need to turn our work into the most simplified expression or equation possible.  These 7th graders have spent the last two months building expressions and equations from real life problems.  They have now transitioned into building percent equations and learning how to find the percent of change, percent of increase or decrease and percent of error.  The 7th graders are using a V.E.A approach to building their equations to solve the problems.  Ask a 7th grader what it stands for (variable, equation, answer statement).  Khan Academy and Moby Max are being used to support our learning as well.

Students have also been preparing for the PARCC test through problems of the day.  It is fun to see them work on a question that tests the concept we have learned in the classroom.  They are gaining the confidence that they need to be successful, as we are “7th Grade Mathematicians.”
