This is my 25th year teaching physical education in the Forrestville Valley School District, and my 28th year teaching. I was born and raised in Plano, IL, birthplace of the harvester, and was a "Plano Reaper". Plano is also known worldwide as the largest manufacturer of plastic tackle boxes. I graduated from Plano High School, received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Graceland University (Lamoni, IA), and earned a Masters of Teaching degree from Rockford University (Rockford, IL). I currently coach 8th grade volleyball and have also coached basketball and softball at different times in my career at many different levels. I am also a BIG supporter of the American Heart Association and have enjoyed coordinating FGS's annual Kids Heart Challenge event (Jump Rope for Heart). My husband Mark teaches 5th grade at May School in Rochelle. My family resides in Byron. My daughter Arynn is sophomore at Ripon College in Ripon, WI and competes as a Red Hawk for both their volleyball and track and field teams. My son Luke is a junior at Byron High School and represents the Tigers as a member of their soccer, baseball, scholastic bowl and math teams. My family and I are HUGE Chicago sports fans and follow the Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs, as well as our local Rockford Ice Hogs. We enjoy using our Plano tackle boxes while vacationing in Minnesota every summer. Mrs. Mathieu not only enjoys fishing but also time on the lake kayaking, paddle boarding and reading on the beach!!!
