2022 - Junior High Track
Sixty-one student athletes participated in the Forreston Junior High Track and Field season this year. Students participating were from grades sixth through eighth. Even with the weather being less than cooperative for most of the season, athletes worked hard and endured the cold and rainy nights to achieve numerous personal records. The sixth and seventh grade boys team was able to remain undefeated the entire season finishing with a Route 72 Conference win in Oregon on May 10.
The season culminated with the appearance of 12 athletes competing in the State competition this past weekend in East Peoria. These individuals qualified for state competition in the following events:
- Carson Akins (8th grade) - Long Jump
- Jakob Kobler (8th grade) - Shot Put
- Brody Schwartz (7th grade) - Long Jump, 110m Hurdles, and 4x200 Relay
- Johnathan Milnes (7th grade) - High Jump and 4x200 Relay
- Hayden Vinnedge (7th grade) - 4x200 Relay
- Eli Ferris (7th grade) - 4x200 Relay
- Maxx Wiltfang (7th grade) - 4x200 Relay Alternate
- Breelyn Shneiderman (7th grade) - 200m Dash and 4x100 Relay
- Chloe Pritchard (7th grade) - 4x100 Relay
- Hannah Vinnedge (7th grade) - 4x100 Relay
- Ryleigh Alexander (6th grade) - 4x100 Relay
- Lucy Bawinkel (6th grade) - 4x100 Relay Alternate
Carson Akins finished Long Jump in 7th place earning himself a medal. The girls 4x100 Relay also finished in 7th place earning themselves a medal as well. Jakob Kobler finished Shot Put in 11th place. Jonathan Milnes finished High Jump in 11th place. A late season injury prevented Brody Schwartz from competing in the Long Jump and the 110m Hurdles. The boys 4x200 Relay finished in 16th place.
The Junior High Track team is coached by Danelle Setterstrom and Joel Tuten. They are assisted by Kyle Getz and Jake Groom.
