In our classroom we use a behavior management system called "Use It Slips". This keeps track of your child’s behavior throughout the week. Every week students start out with five slips, and they have opportunities all throughout the week to earn slips and lose them. Every week is a new beginning and the children will all start out the week with a fresh start. If behavior does not exhibit our Cardinal Code for Forreston Grade School, students will lose slips. If a child’s behavior becomes disruptive and/or challenging, students may lose all their slips for the week. If behavior continues in this fashion and does not improve when instructed, students may be asked to stay in at recess when all slips are gone and possible a lunch detention with Mr. Schneiderman. This system allows the child to be actively aware of their behavior. It also lets you be aware of how your child’s day went by asking them how many slips they have gained or lost each day. If a student has lost all their slips by the end of the week, a letter will be sent home for the student's parent or guardian to sign and return. This letter must be returned on Monday.

*Please note that these slips are inside each student's pencil bag and no other students see how many slips they have remaining. Students are aware that their behavior is a mutual respect system between each individual student and the teacher. Third graders are expected to exhibit our Cardinal Code in everything they do throughout the day.

Thanks so much for helping us maintain a respectful classroom environment!
