FORRESTVILLE VALLEY SCHOOL BOARD AWARDS BID FOR FORRESTON JR/SR HIGH SCHOOL FACILITY EXPANSION PROJECT FORRESTON, IL. — The Forrestville Valley Community Unit School District 221 Board of Education has awarded the construction bid for the Facility Expansion Project at Forreston Jr/Sr High School to Stenstrom Construction Group.

The district received five competitive bids for the project. During its regular meeting on Wednesday, August 19, the Board approved Stenstrom Construction low bid of $6,240,000. “This is an exciting investment in our students and the future of Forrestville Valley,” said the Board of Education president Mr. Chip Braker. “These new facilities will provide our students with additional opportunities to learn, train, compete and grow. We are proud to support a project that will serve our schools and community for many years.”

The expansion will include an auxiliary gymnasium of nearly 10,000 square feet and a 3,100 square-foot weight room. The additional space will strengthen the district’s physical education, athletic, extracurricular, and student wellness programs. “Our Board is excited to see this project move forward,” said the Board of Education vice president Mr. Shaun Gallager, “The auxiliary gymnasium and weight room will enhance the daily experiences of our students while addressing important facility needs. This project reflects our commitment to providing students with high-quality spaces and opportunities.”

The construction timeline will depend partly on weather conditions and how much site work can begin before winter. The district’s goal is to complete the expansion no later than fall 2028.
