3rd graders became composers in music class last week! They partnered up to write songs using Boomwhackers. When their compositions were complete, they rehearsed and then performed their songs for their classmates! 🎶
Mrs. Meyer's kindergarten friends had two surprises this week!
On Friday, we finished up our writing unit with "how to make slime." Then the students got to make slime to take home!
On Tuesday, we read The Big Cheese book, and each student got to take home their own Big Cheese stuffy!
JH state track qualifiers returned tonight with some bling! Congrats to our many medal winners! Also a shout out for winning the sportsmanship award too for our division. Talented and did it the right way!
Aliyah Quenzer took 1st place at State in High Jump, with a new school record of 4'11!!

Our 5th graders enjoyed their very last Bike Rodeo Day! 🚲
Accounting class made a trip to Bleu Cedar today to talk to the owner about how he started the business and ask questions about what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur. Thanks again for having us!
Big Thank you to our Forreston Police Department and volunteers for helping with our Bike Rodeo here at Forreston Grade School. Always a great event and enjoyed by all!

The kindergartners had a great trip to see what first grade is all about and best of all they stopped by the greenhouse and learned from high school FFA members about roots and the greenhouse. Plus they each planted a marigold to take home!
CALLING ALL FUTURE CARDINALS!! This is a reminder to register your students who are entering preschool and kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year! We can't wait to welcome our newest Cardinals to The Nest! Registration is currently OPEN for preschool and kindergarten ONLY. All 1st-12th grade students can be registered after June 22. Families with students entering preschool or kindergarten in the fall can call the GVGS office (815) 362-2279 for more information.
First grade celebrated how much they have learned this year with a smart-tea party. They made top hats and bonnets and enjoyed a special snack.
While we couldn't post them all, congrats to our Class of 2026 who had their Senior Big Moment Celebration! We are all proud of you and wish you the best in your post Forreston plans!

Four years of creativity, dedication, and growth led to one unforgettable weekend in Chicago. A group of Senior Fine Arts students celebrated their journey, on May 2 & 3, with an architectural tour on the Chicago River, inspiration at the Art Institute of Chicago, discovery at the Shedd Aquarium, a night at the theatre for The Great Gatsby, and of course, classic deep dish from Giordano's. A well-earned trip celebrating four years of being in Art, Band, or Choir!
Our last greenhouse sale will be this Friday, the entire greenhouse will be 1/2 off!
Ag Business class juniors and seniors the past two days have been presenting their Farm Bill project! They researched 3 different areas in the farm bill and developed 3 ways they would like to change those laws!
The horticulture class put their skills to work planting our beautiful plants for graduation on Sunday!
