Sixth Grade Volleyball will officially begin the week after school starts. Mark your calendars for Monday, August 17th, from 3:00 - 4:30 in the FGS gym. All 6th grade girls interested in playing will ride a shuttle bus from FJH to FGS immediately after school. All student/athletes must have a current sports physical on file, be able to provide proof of insurance, and have all forms and fees completed and paid as required by the athletic department. Questions regarding any of the above should be directed to Erin Greenfield in the FJSH athletic office.

All athletes and parents are invited to attend the Fall Sports Information Night to learn more. We'll see you next Tuesday, August 11th at 6 p.m. in the FHS Gym prior to 6th grade orientation.

Here is important information regarding the start of Whiteside Area Career Center (WACC) courses:

🗓️ First Day: Wednesday, August 12

7:00 AM: Check-in at the high school entrance (Door 2).

7:10 AM: Bus departs promptly for Sterling.

10:30 AM: Bus returns to Forreston and students are dismissed for the day.

🗓️ Regular Schedule Starts: Thursday, August 13

Students will attend WACC in the morning and attend Forreston High School classes upon their return.

The Forreston FFA officer team had a great time yesterday at their leadership retreat, where they planned the events for the entire school year! They also had a great time at their official officer photo shoot this morning. Can't wait for a great school year!

This year Summer program at the Library is Plant your Seed. The Art department stepped up and planted a seed with adorable references to sunflowers and Farmland in support of the program.

If you have not gone to the library this summer yet, stop by and check out some books and check out the skills of our students! 4 Forreston FFA members received their Illinois State FFA Degrees today! This is the highest award that an FFA member can earn in the state! Fun fact: less than 2% of Illinois FFA members earn this prestigious award!

Congratulations to Justin Myers for being recognized at the 98th Illinois FFA state convention as the American star Farmer candidate for the state of Illinois! We will wait to hear later this summer if he is one of the top four national finalist!

With our school and communities' help we were able to be the section 2 FFA Harvest for All winners! Harvest for all is a program put on by the Illinois Farm Bureau that encourages FFA chapters to focus on food insecurity in their homes and communities! Through multiple fundraisers, the Forreston FFA was able to donate funds to our local food pantry!

Emma Lenkaitis took part in the 98th Illinois FFA State convention by carrying the flag into the first general session! She received this honor by being named a gold chapter reporter and being an FFA in the USA reporter!

Congratulations to Makenna Jordison on an outstanding performance in the NWIL All-Star game tonight!

Softball camp today (Monday) is rescheduled for Friday due to the rain. Camp will run Tuesday-Friday this week.

Shout out to Forreston Fire Department for watering the baseball field for the sectionals today! The field looks great and so does some of Forreston's finest!
