Senior Spotlight - Mackenna Zink

1. What do you look forward to the most during your senior year?
I look forward to doing better in school than I ever did in my other years of school.

2. What activities/athletics are you involved with at FHS?
I'm involved with the musical. I'm the backstage manager.

3. What are your post-Forreston plans?
I don't know yet but maybe finish cosmetology.

4. What advice would you give an incoming freshman?
Try your best. Don't give up, and you will learn who your true friends are through high school. Be prepared for junior year because it is and was one of the hardest years.

In Mrs. Meyer's kindergarten class, we learned about Presidents' Day and read some books about presidents this week!

On Thursday, Alex (FGS) and Shayla (FJSHS) participated in the Regional Spelling Bee in Dixon. Both did an outstanding job representing our district at this event. Congratulations to both school champions! 🐝

HUGE! BREAKING NEWS! Our very own Justin Myers has been chosen as Illinois's Candidate for the American Star Farmer (the top award in the nation for FFA entrepreneurs!) We are beyond excited and proud of Justin! Good Luck as you compete for this very prestigious honor!

Congrats to our Senior's last night on their 72-26 win over Durand. A special shoutout to Kendall Erdmann who scored his 1,500 point! Second overall on the all-time Forreston points list.

Come out Monday, February 23rd for the IHSA Quarterfinal at Forreston as we take on Milledgeville at 6 pm. Good luck to our Boys in the State Series.

Students in high school computers began coding on code.org this week. They are learning basic coding concepts and having fun writing code and debugging games.

Little Cardinal Preschool students continue to work hard every week on their Handwriting Without Tears program.

The first grade classes had Ms Natalie from Agriculture in the Classroom visit today. We learned about Abraham Lincoln and facts about the state of Illinois.

Congrats Forreston Football team on the National Football Federation & College Hall of Fame Hatchell Cup Award. Recognized as 1 of 4 teams in Illinois and 1 of 95 in the nation for excellence on the field and in the classroom! So proud of these student-athletes! Go Birds!

Hanging out with my friends

2. What activities/athletics are you involved with at FHS?
Golf and baseball

3. What are your post-Forreston plans?
I plan to work on the railroad and work my way up to engineer.

4. What advice would you give an incoming freshman?
Be yourself; don't worry about what others think of you, and get involved to make the most of your high school career.

Forreston will play the HSBB Regional Quarterfinal vs Milledgeville Feb 23rd, 6pm in Forreston

Today's contest @ Oregon for boys basketball is now a JV and Varsity contest only starting with the JV game at 5:30 pm. There is no Freshman game at 4:30 pm.

1. What do you look forward to the most during your senior year?
I look forward to prom and graduation.

2. What activities/athletics are you involved with at FHS?
I am involved in volleyball, softball, and servant leadership.

3. What are your post-Forreston plans?
I plan to attend a four year university majoring in nursing.

4. What advice would you give an incoming freshman?
Turn your work in because grades matter all four years.

The softball apparel store is now open. The store will close on February 26th, 2026 and be shipped directly to you 2-3 weeks later.
