Students in computers began their Media Literacy unit this week. So far they have learned about why media literacy is important and how to deconstruct media. Today they deconstructed four advertisements to see if they could understand the message.

7th grade learned about the difference between independent and dependent variables in an experiment. They took that knowledge and used it in their mint racer experiment!

On October 2nd, 2026, the Forreston FFA will be selling hot apple cider, apple cider slushies, and donuts. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to the Forreston Food Pantry through their service program “Harvest for All”. Harvest for All is a brand-new initiative that Forreston FFA started last year. Their goal is to fundraise and donate to end hunger in the community. At the end of last school year, they donated over $1,300 to the food pantry, and they hope to surpass that this year. Come out Friday night to have a delicious treat, watch some Cardinal football, and help end hunger in the community.

Our FFA horse judging team placed 2nd overall at the Northwest Illinois Horse Judging Contest. At the same time they were competing in our section contest where they placed 1st and Addison, Addison, and Adalyn all placed in the top ten!

Vedra Scramble for Education Update. Course is too wet. We will still gather for games and raffles at 10. Lunch at 11:30.

Consumer education students got a chance to experience "real world" investing with the game STAX. The game consists of 20 years worth of investment decisions from stocks to gold and more. They tried to beat the computer and make the most money in their portfolio.

Many of our fifth graders started book clubs this week. They are super excited about their book choices! They are looking forward to reading and talking with their peers about their books!

Eighth graders dove deep into the work of Edgar Allen Poe analyzing the emotion and motive of the narrator in "The Tell Tale Heart". They put the narrator on trial trying to prove if he is innocent by reason of insanity or guilty of first degree murder. What do you think the final verdict was? 👁️🧑🏼‍⚖️👩🏻‍⚖️

Miss Kempel and her Little Cardinal Preschool Class had so much fun learning about the letter A this week! We made apple plates and apple paintings using Q-tips 🍎

Everyday first grade charts our days in school by 1's, 2's, 5's, and 10's. Can you believe it is day 25 already!

Third-grade readers are throwing it back to the cassette player days with a listening station!

Due to the wet conditions, vehicles will NOT be allowed to park on the grass anywhere on Eastland School grounds for Friday night’s football game.

🚗 Once the school parking lots are full, fans will need to park along the surrounding streets.

Please plan accordingly and allow extra time when arriving at the game.

Last night the FFA Officer team presented to the school board abput their successes of the past year and everything they hope to accomplish this school year!

Today, Consumer Education students had the opportunity to hear from Forreston alumnus Josh Greenfield, who spoke about investing. Using his years of experience in wealth management and the investment industry, he provided students with practical advice and valuable financial insights.

6th grade wrapped up their lesson on cell organelles last week and made their very own edible cells!
