Our 5th graders went on an underground adventure at Cave of the Mounds! 🪨 Students got to see real-life examples of geology in action, explore breathtaking formations, and connect classroom science to the world around them. A day they won’t forget!

Last night, a few FFA members attended the Section 2 banquet, where section officer elections were held. By giving speeches and being selected by a panel of delegates, we are excited to announce our very own Cylee Kirchner and Emma Lenkaitis were elected to serve as Section officers! The baseball and softball games scheduled for Pec have been changed to AT Forreston. Baseball and softball will do a varsity/JV follow at Forreston HS. Both games @ 4:30

HS Girls Track at Lewin - CANCELED

Our TAP (Teacher Assistant Program) students attended the annual Education Symposium at Sauk Valley Community College. They listened to area educators speak about their career paths, daily job responsibilities, and completed some fun activities. A couple of our seniors were honored at the closing ceremony for completing the requirements needed to receive their Education Pathway Endorsement. Congratulations to Kaylynn and Braelyn!

The Marketing class will be doing their annual Lemonade Stand projects April 30 - May 1. They look forward to serving the students and staff at FJSHS.

Senior Spotlight - Caroline Bawinkel

1. What do you look forward to the most during your senior year?
I look forward to games in IH during Homecoming and Prom week.

2. What activities/athletics are you involved with at FHS?
I play softball and participate in the Spanish Club.

3. What are your post-Forreston plans?
I plan to attend a four year university to become a Speech Therapist or Medical Esthetician.

4. What advice would you give an incoming freshman?
Do your homework!

53rd Annual Highland District High School Juried Art Exhibit is this Wednesday from 4:30- 6pm and reception is at 5:30. Please come and support our 12 students that is participating in the show this year and also see the wonderful art from other high schools in the area. See you there!

Our senior shop class has been hard at work on multiple different projects this semester! You can purchase some of their flower boxes at our greenhouse sale!

On Thursday morning, the Civil Engineering & Architecture class took a field trip to the Fehr Graham offices in Rockford. The students got a tour of the building with a neat view of the Rock River and several projects that Fehr Graham completed for the city. Students then watched a presentation given by staff highlighting the services and technology the company provides.

I am looking forward to graduation.

I am involved in football and track and field.

I am planning on 2 years at Highland and 2 years at Platteville.

4. What advice would you give an incoming freshman?
They need to keep up their grades…even freshman year.

Before spring break, our kindergarten friends received Easter peeps, and they enjoyed the Donuts with Grown-ups party! We hope that everyone had a wonderful spring break and Easter holiday!

I look forward to going to sporting events and being able to leave IH early.

I play football, basketball, and baseball.

I plan to go to a junior college to play baseball and then go somewhere else to get my bachelor’s degree.
